Hyderabad is seeing a new focus on education opportunities through Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). The university is enhancing its student support centers in the city and other districts by modernizing systems and adding new professional courses, especially in distance learning.
The Sub-Regional Centre (SRC), previously managed by an assistant regional director, now has a skilled regional director to advance the university’s mission.
Dr. Shamsuddin Ansari, the Regional Director of Hyderabad Sub-Regional Centre at MANUU, stated that the university is eager to reach areas lacking Learning Support Centres, which have the potential to develop bright students.
The university has started 4-year undergraduate courses through distance learning, following National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines. New professional courses are also being introduced, with a strong emphasis on encouraging female students to enroll, supporting women empowerment in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, according to Dr. Ansari, who recently assumed his role.
Dr. Ansari, experienced in university financial and administrative management, shared that an MBA course has been launched in distance learning to help working individuals pursue higher education globally. Awareness campaigns will soon begin, visiting colleges, madrasas, and mosques, to attract more students and meet enrollment goals.
Currently, there are 11 Learning Support Centres (LSCs) under the SRC in Nampally, Hyderabad. Two centers operate within Hyderabad—one at the University campus in Gachi Bowli and another at Government Degree and PG College in Hussaini Alam. The other nine are in districts like Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Bodhan, Kaghaznagar, and Bhainsa.
Regarding the absence of an LSC in Rangareddy, a district significantly larger than Hyderabad, Dr. Ansari mentioned plans to establish a facility likely between Chandrayangutta and Pahadi Shareef soon.
