On Friday, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Rayadurgam saw severe traffic jams. Motorists had a tough time, especially on the route from Gachibowli Biodiversity to IKEA. Vehicles crawled slowly on the KPHB route from Hitech City. Waterlogged roads from Miyapur to Gachibowli caused vehicles to get stuck.
Whenever it rains in Hyderabad, the Gachibowli and Hitech City areas experience heavy traffic problems.
IT Corridor Faces Traffic Woes
Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Nanakramguda are key IT areas in Hyderabad. Even a little rain results in massive traffic jams. Just 30 minutes of rain transforms main roads into waterlogged lanes.
Floodwater collects at these locations:
- Shilparamam Bus Stop
- Kothaguda Bus Stop
- Madhapur Bata Showroom
- Nectar Garden
- Under Rayadurgam Metro Station
- Biodiversity Junction
- In front of IIIT
- Gachibowli AE Office
- Radisson Hotel
- Behind IKEA
It often takes over two hours to clear these roads. Drivers are forced to use just one or two lanes instead of the full three or four.
Both Main and Alternate Routes Jammed
Traffic piles up on:
- Biodiversity Route from JNTU to IKEA
- Gachibowli Route via Khajaguda from Shaikpet
- Gachibowli Route from Lingampalli
During rain, flooding at the Lingampalli railway underbridge diverts more vehicles to the Nallagandla flyover towards Hitech City, worsening congestion.
The alternate route from Alvin X Road to Gachibowli faces similar traffic issues. Many IT workers avoid bikes in the rain and switch to cars, which police say exacerbates the jams.
Despite flyovers, underpasses, and link roads, the traffic problem persists and worsens.
