The Congress candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Mohammed Waliullah Sameer, spoke about the State government’s plans to revitalize SETWIN and promote skill development training. Sameer, who is also the Hyderabad DCC president, led a rally along with other party members to address unemployment in the Old City. He promised 5,000 jobs and subsidised loans for 50,000 unemployed youth in that area.
A recent survey showed that the unemployment rate in Hyderabad was 21%, with some parts of the Old City reaching 45% among those aged between 20 and 24. Sameer expressed hope that this situation could be changed with a new representative for the Hyderabad LS constituency. He believed that under Congress governance, both in Telangana and potentially at the Centre, tackling unemployment was achievable.
In addition to revitalizing SETWIN, Sameer mentioned plans to transform the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) to enhance infrastructure in the Old City, aiming to eradicate unemployment and poverty. He urged Hyderabad residents to vote for the Congress to secure a better future for their children, criticizing the MIM and BJP for using divisive tactics while the Congress focused on inclusive development.
Sameer criticized the neglect of the Old City, which had been labeled a ‘Red Zone’ by financial institutions. Despite MIM holding the Hyderabad LS seat since 1984, Sameer noted that discrimination issues persisted. He promised to work towards changing this perception and ensuring the Old City received the recognition it deserved as the heart of Hyderabad. He encouraged voters to think about what they had gained from supporting MIM and BJP over the years and consider voting for Congress for the change they needed.
