Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, plan to march to Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday if President Droupadi Murmu does not grant them a meeting.
The leaders remain hopeful about securing an appointment, but they have prepared to proceed with their march if refused. Their goal is to bring attention to the issue of BC reservations. “If denied, we will organize a protest at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” said a BC leader in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, could not join the protest at Jantar Mantar due to attending the final rites of Shibu Soren. He urged the President to approve Telangana’s reservation bills. “Today, the Telangana Government and Congress staged a protest in Delhi, urging the President to approve a law reserving 42% for backward classes in education, jobs, and local governance,” he shared on social media.
This legislation represents a significant step toward achieving social justice as envisioned by the Constitution, supported by data from the caste census.
