Hyderabad: Expect heavy rain in the State over the next 24 hours, says the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts might see heavy to extremely heavy rain on Monday.
Rain is also expected near Telangana’s border districts. The IMD attributes this to a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. Other affected areas include Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jagtial, Sircilla, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Sangareddy. People should be cautious, as winds could reach 30 to 40 km/h.
Northern districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Jangaon, Vikarabad, Yadadri, Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Rangareddy will also experience heavy rain late Sunday night. Hyderabad and nearby areas can expect moderate rainfall or thundershowers, with 30 to 60 mm of rain over 24 hours.
Recent rains have caused lakes and streams to overflow, submerging low-lying areas. Two people are reportedly missing. Adilabad saw over 10 cm of rain, and roads in Mancherial were heavily damaged. Warangal faced heavy rainfall, with Govindaraopet mandal receiving 21.76 cm. The Yedupayala Vana Durga Bhavani temple in Medak closed due to high inflows from the Manjeera. Khammam district faced road closures, and the Munneru Vagu is swollen. Officials are on alert with heavy rain expected on Monday, and Medchal Highway experienced traffic jams due to flooding.
