The number of people expressing their anger towards leaders is increasing. In Greater Hyderabad, NOTA (None of the Above) votes were higher than votes for Congress, BRS, and BJP candidates in many areas. In Medchal-Malkajgiri district, NOTA received 15,418 votes, and in Rangareddy district, it received 12,824 votes. In the city, a total of 16,222 votes were registered.
Looking at the constituencies, Quthbullapur received the highest number of NOTA votes with 4,079, while Nampally received 544 votes. Compared to the 2018 elections, the number of NOTA votes in the recent election has slightly decreased. Medchal received 3,737 votes, Serilingampally received 3,145 votes, LB Nagar received 2,966 votes, Malkajgiri received 2,608 votes, Kukatpally received 2,458 votes, Uppal received 2,536 votes, and Maheswaram received 2,031 votes. These ten segments had NOTA votes ranging from 1,000 to 2,000.
In LB Nagar, NOTA secured the fourth position out of 45 candidates with 2,966 votes. Similarly, in Malkajgiri, Uppal, and Serilingampally constituencies with 33, 32, and 31 candidates respectively, NOTA also stood in fourth place.
In Chevella of Rangareddy district, there was a controversy as the number of NOTA votes exceeded the majority of the BRS candidate. The BRS candidate Kale Yadaiah won in this constituency with 76,218 votes, while the Congress candidate Bhima Bharat received 75,950 votes. Yadaiah’s majority was only 268 votes while NOTA received 1,423 votes. This has sparked discussions about the significance of NOTA votes.
