Hyderabad: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting aims to lead the global creative economy by using artificial intelligence (AI). Union I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju announced this plan.
On Thursday, during a meeting at T-Hub Hyderabad, Jaju invited top AI and machine learning (ML) startups in India to join two major challenges: Kalaa Setu and Bhasha Setu. These are part of the WaveX Startup Accelerator Platform.
Jaju highlighted that these projects support the Prime Minister’s goal of building a dynamic creator economy focused on innovation and cultural diversity. He urged startups to create scalable digital solutions that respect India’s linguistic and cultural richness, aiming to improve communication in all Indian languages.
The meeting included top incubators, T-Hub startups, and representatives from IIT Hyderabad, NITs, and other engineering colleges focused on innovation. Startups can register and find technical information about these challenges on the WaveX portal (wavex.wavesbazaar.com). Finalists will present their solutions in New Delhi to a national jury. Winners will earn a Memorandum of Understanding for full development, collaboration with All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan (DD), and Press Information Bureau (PIB), and full incubation under the WaveX Innovation Platform.
WaveX, part of the Ministry’s WAVES initiative, promotes innovation in media, entertainment, and language technology.
At the WAVES Summit 2025 in Mumbai, over 30 startups pitched to key stakeholders, including government, investors, and industry leaders.
The Ministry’s support through WaveX shows a strong commitment to helping startups with mentorship, hackathons, and integration with national platforms, potentially transforming how India communicates and creates in the digital age. India’s vision to use AI for inclusive growth just gained significant strength, Jaju added.
