In Hyderabad, a significant event was held by the Telangana State Commission for Women at Nizam College to promote awareness about gender equality. This session aimed to encourage inclusive thinking among students and foster open conversations about gender issues.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, an alumnus of Nizam College, was the keynote speaker. He highlighted how education can help build a society where genders are equal. He praised the efforts of the Commission and Nizam College, noting government initiatives like self-help groups, free public transport for women, and a Rs 20,000 crore budget for women’s welfare.
Nerella Sharada, the Chairperson of the Commission, encouraged students to drive social change. She emphasized the need for respect and non-discrimination to achieve true equality, assuring that the Commission is accessible to all, regardless of age.
The event included talks from experts like Dr. Farzana Khan on gender sensitization and Udaya Rani on positive masculinity and healthy relationships. These discussions promoted empathy, respect, and dialogue in daily life.
Principal Prof. A.V. Rajashekar led the program, confirming Nizam College’s dedication to developing socially responsible citizens. The event was attended by senior faculty, Commission members, and many students, concluding with a powerful message: gender equality starts with awareness and thrives through education and empowerment.
