Hyderabad witnessed a tense situation today as student activists from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) halted the convoy of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka at Nizam College. They demanded the immediate release of overdue fee reimbursements and scholarships for students.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s visit to Nizam College was interrupted by the protest. Activists highlighted the delays in financial support since the Congress government took office. Students complained about being forced to pay for certificates out of their own pockets, as promised funds remain unpaid.
The protest intensified when ABVP members physically blocked the convoy, highlighting the financial difficulties students are facing. Many expressed anger over the inaction, explaining that the delay in funds has caused stress and forced them to find other ways to finance their education. Police intervened, arresting several protesters and taking them to a local station. Despite the disruption, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka continued with his planned activities.
ABVP has pledged to increase their protests until the government releases the pending financial aid. The student group warned that without quick action, many students could miss out on their education and future opportunities. The demonstration at Nizam College is part of a wider movement urging the Telangana State Government to fulfill its promises of financial assistance and support student welfare.
