Former chief secretary of Telangana, Somesh Kumar, and chief advisor to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, released FTCCI’s “Vision 2030–Quality and Affordable Health for All in Telangana State Document.” The event was attended by Dr G.N. Rao, Founder and Chair of LV Prasad Eye Institute, Anil Agarwal, President of FTCCI, and Dr. Subodh Kandamuthan, Dean of Training Programmes ASCI.

In his address, Somesh Kumar praised FTCCI for taking the initiative to bring out a Vision 2030 document on Health Care, which is typically done by the government. He assured that the government will seriously consider the recommendations mentioned in the document.

The Government of Telangana has implemented several measures to improve healthcare in the state. Somesh Kumar highlighted the initiatives taken over the past 9 years, including the establishment of medical colleges in every district to address the shortage of trained manpower in the healthcare sector. This has increased the number of MBBS seats from 2800 to 8500.

The Vision 2030 document focuses on equity, disparity, and patient satisfaction. It aims to improve awareness and trust in the public healthcare system and make Telangana the best health destination and medical hub. The document also provides 11 recommendations, including promoting disease prevention, strengthening healthcare systems through public-private partnerships, and making healthcare more patient-centric through innovation and technology.

Other highlights of the document include providing health insurance for all citizens, giving patients the choice between government and private healthcare facilities, and considering health as a fundamental right. It also suggests encouraging public-private partnerships in the healthcare system and stationing trained medical assistants in tribal and remote areas.

The document emphasizes the need for affordable medical education and investment in trust hospitals. It also highlights the potential for Telangana and India to become leaders in healthcare, similar to how China has become a leader in manufacturing.
