GUNTUR: YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to think critically about the direction the state is heading under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He asked the public to consider whether the state is moving forward or backward.

Speaking at his office in Tadepalli, Jagan pointed out issues of lawlessness, false reports by Chandrababu, and misleading propaganda against the YSRCP administration.

“Over the past 52 days, there have been continuous attacks, rapes, and property destruction in the state. The administration is trying to suppress those who question it, while the police do nothing. The Chandrababu government is only presenting a seven-month vote-on-account budget, avoiding a full budget to hide their incompetence and unfulfilled promises,” Jagan stated.

He accused Chandrababu of betrayal and spreading false narratives. “From betraying NTR to deceiving the public, this is the norm. Now, they claim the state is financially ruined to avoid presenting a full budget,” he said.

During elections, they claimed there were debts of Rs 14 lakh crore and made ‘Super Six’ promises. Now, they struggle to justify these claims. By the time of the Governor’s speech, they showed a debt of Rs 10 lakh crore, but according to RBI, CAG, and the State Budget, as of June this year, the debt was only Rs 5.18 lakh crore.

When Chandrababu stepped down in 2019, the debt was Rs 2.72 lakh crore. Under the YSRCP, it reached Rs 5.18 lakh crore. Including guarantees and power agreements, it totals Rs 7.48 lakh crore. Yet, they falsely claimed Rs 14 lakh crore in the Governor’s speech. Jagan criticized this as unethical and said they would inform the Governor about these falsehoods.

When Chandrababu took office, there was over Rs 7,000 crore in the treasury. But when YSRCP took office, there was only Rs 100 crore. During their tenure, they implemented every promise in their manifesto and transferred Rs 2.71 lakh crore to beneficiaries through DBT, providing welfare to everyone.

Under Chandrababu’s rule, the debt reached 21.63%, while under YSRCP, it was 12.9%. The Central Economic Survey praised YSRCP’s performance. Despite these achievements, they portray the state’s financial situation as dire to avoid presenting a full budget.

“During Chandrababu’s tenure, the debt reached 21.63%, while under YSRCP, it was 12.9%. We borrowed less than the permissions granted by the Centre. Even during COVID-19, we presented a full budget. Despite reduced tax shares from the Centre, we did not stop welfare. So, who has financially ruined the state?” Jagan questioned, stressing that the Central Economic Survey praised their performance.
