Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad is set to award an honorary doctorate to Professor TG Sitharam, the Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education. This will occur during the university’s 13th convocation on Tuesday. At the event, the university will honor outstanding students with 74 gold medals.
A total of 92,118 degrees will be awarded, consisting of 77,559 undergraduate, 13,063 postgraduate, 950 Doctor of Pharmacy, 305 Doctor of Philosophy, and 241 other degrees. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who also serves as the Chancellor of JNTU-Hyderabad, will attend the ceremony. Professor Sitharam is scheduled to deliver the convocation address.
University officials mentioned plans to update the course curriculum and syllabi for all undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These changes, known as the R25 regulations, will begin in the 2025-26 academic year. Professor Reddy emphasized that the revised syllabus aims to align with industry needs and improve employability skills. Additionally, 791 students from JNTU-Hyderabad’s colleges and units secured placements during campus interviews for the academic year 2024-25.
