Mahabubnagar: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Judge M. Anuradha emphasized the need for addressing people’s issues while protecting consumer rights. She spoke at a seminar on consumer rights organized by the Nenu Saitam voluntary organization at TNGOs Bhavan.
Justice Anuradha, the chief guest, stressed that consumers have both rights and duties. She called for more awareness campaigns based on the Consumer Protection Act of 2019.
Diddi Praveen Kumar, a social activist and president of Nenu Saitam, advised consumers to always ask for a bill when buying anything. He explained that a bill is crucial for filing complaints about fraud, defective products, or poor service. “Without a bill, seeking justice is difficult, leading to losses,” he cautioned.
Kumar also highlighted that the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, aims to protect consumer interests. He shared information about the National Consumer Helpline 1915 and the toll-free number 1800-11-4000 for complaints.
Earlier, ICFAI Law College students showcased posters on consumer rights and laws. A street play on consumer rights received a positive reaction from the audience.
Members of Nenu Saitam, including Sameer, Pavan, Sridhar Reddy, Rainbow Srinivas, Srihari, Ganesh, Lakshmikant Reddy, Maitri Yadaya, Rakesh, and Raghu, along with ICFAI staff, participated actively in the event.
