Kargil War veteran starts program to stop suicides

Hyderabad: A new foundation called G-Jindagi was launched by Kargil War veteran and anti-suicide advocate Group Captain GJ Rao. This event coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day at Prasad Cine Labs. The launch happened during a screening of his award-winning film, “September 10,” where attendees, including citizens and activists, applauded his efforts.

Group Captain Rao has spent over 20 years working in suicide prevention, including a decade of initiatives in the Indian Air Force. He emphasized the importance of a dedicated foundation like G-Jindagi. The foundation aims to collaborate with governments, NGOs, and professionals to help those in need. “My life is committed to this mission,” Rao declared, serving as the Chairman of the Foundation.

Co-founder and Secretary General Dr. S. Ramu, who is a senior journalist and mental health advocate, stated that the foundation will prioritize vulnerable groups like students, IT workers, women, and farmers. “Under Rao Garu’s leadership, we’ve gathered experts from various fields to assist those at risk,” Dr. Ramu explained. Details about the trustees and expert members of G-Jindagi Foundation will be announced soon.
