Hyderabad: K Kavitha, a leader from the BRS, accused the government of misusing Rs 2 lakh crore loans meant for election promises. She demanded the release of a detailed report on how this money was spent.
Kavitha claimed that advance payments were made to two agencies and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy for the Kodangal Lift Irrigation project. Speaking at a press conference, she labeled Revanth Reddy as the “corruption king.” Kavitha announced plans for Telangana Jagruthi to publish a book exposing Revanth Reddy’s alleged corrupt activities, which will be distributed across the state.
She criticized Revanth Reddy for accumulating a Rs 2 lakh crore debt in just 18 months, questioning the lack of new schemes, pension increases, or the promised Rs 2,500 monthly for women. Kavitha demanded transparency about the debt. She expressed anger over Telangana’s downgraded financial status under Revanth Reddy, contrasting it with the disciplined loan repayments during KCR’s leadership.
Kavitha pointed out that the current administration is defaulting on loans from the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) for irrigation projects. She cited a letter from REC as evidence of the state’s financial mismanagement. Kavitha insisted that her claims were backed by proof.
In response to the Chief Minister’s claim of borrowing to repay KCR’s loans, Kavitha called it false. She stated that the REC letter proves KCR maintained financial discipline, regularly repaying loans for projects and infrastructure.
Kavitha highlighted that during KCR’s time, projects were completed without advance payments to contractors. However, she noted that once the Congress took power, the practice of giving mobilization advances resumed.
