Hyderabad: Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya and Kadiyam Srihari, MLA of Station Ghanpur, met with Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of South Central Railways, on Monday. They submitted a petition requesting the completion of pending railway projects within the Warangal Parliament segment.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed various rail development plans for the region. They highlighted the importance of Kazipet and Warangal stations, which are key to handling multi-directional train traffic connecting North and South India. The legislators specifically requested the addition of more platforms as part of the development of Kazipet station. They also asked for two more platforms at Warangal and Kazipet stations, along with foot-over bridges and escalators to help manage the movement of people.
Another major point of discussion was the need for improved medical facilities for railway employees. Kazipet is home to over 3,000 railway employees and an equal number of retired employees who require medical assistance. The legislators suggested allocating more funds to establish a full-fledged sub-divisional hospital with additional staff, better facilities, and expert doctors. They also requested the regularization of the Padmavati Express at Station Ghanpur.
Arun Kumar Jain, the General Manager of SCR, mentioned the challenges posed by the construction of two railway bypass lines from Nashkal to Hasanparthy and Nashkal to Chintalapalli. He explained that these projects pose a serious risk to farmers and could obstruct urban development in Warangal. As a solution, there are plans to change the alignment and establish the railway line in a different way.
Regarding the railway sub-division hospital and Kazipet railway division, Arun Kumar Jain informed that Rs 1.75 crore had been sanctioned for the development of the hospital, and the work will commence soon. He also mentioned that the establishment of the Kazipet Railway Division has been handed over to the Railway Board, and steps will be taken to establish the division as per the board’s decision.
