Khammam: On Monday, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty urged the newly appointed Village Administration Officers (VAOs) to perform their duties with honesty and dedication. He emphasized the importance of delivering effective services at the local level.
During a ceremony at the Khammam Collectorate, Durishetty handed out posting orders to 252 new VAOs. He explained that the government aims to enhance the village-level revenue system, making it more accessible and transparent for citizens.
The Collector highlighted that VAOs were chosen based on merit and assigned to areas outside their home regions, following government rules. These appointments cover 252 out of the 299 clusters in the district.
Durishetty stressed the significance of local governance. He noted that the new VAOs will be key in implementing the State’s new land legislation, Bhoo Bharati, which focuses on resolving land issues transparently. He encouraged the officers to approach their roles with sincerity, particularly in settling land disputes and providing timely certificates.
He reminded the officers of the critical role of the Revenue Department in government, which includes protecting public lands, managing private and patta lands, and issuing vital legal documents. He warned that any rule violations or malpractice would face strict action.
The Collector instructed the officers to follow the Citizen Charter timelines closely and assured that their work would be continuously monitored. He stated, “Our goal is timely service delivery. Citizens should experience the benefits of good governance.”
Durishetty concluded by directing the VAOs to start their new roles immediately. The event was attended by district leaders from the Revenue Association, District Sports Development Officer Sunil Reddy, Collectorate AO Karumanchi Srinivasa Rao, and many newly appointed VAOs.
