Khammam: To assist farmers in the current Kharif season, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has announced efficient urea distribution across the district. Farmers need 45,678 metric tonnes, and 41,000 metric tonnes have already been allocated. So far, 32,494 metric tonnes have reached the farmers.
The distribution network includes 76 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), 26 Agro Rythu Seva Kendras, and 446 private dealers. To make access easier, 66 new procurement centers have been set up. Each center serves about 2,500 acres, making it more convenient for farmers.
To stop black marketing and hoarding, urea is distributed strictly through cooperative societies, using a coupon-based system. Centers provide facilities like drinking water, tents, and seating to accommodate large numbers and reduce inconvenience.
Durishetty stressed that these efforts have significantly reduced illegal activities and kept prices fair. He promised ongoing monitoring to ensure timely distribution to eligible farmers and warned of strict penalties for any wrongdoing.
