Hyderabad: TGSPDCL (Southern Power Distribution Company Limited) is preparing to provide enough electricity to the agriculture sector during the ongoing kharif season. The chairman and managing director, Musharraf Farooqi, has instructed district officials to stay alert, considering the rising demand for power during this farming season.
Farooqi held a video conference with superintending engineers and chief engineers to discuss the power supply situation and the needs of farmers. He mentioned that paddy cultivation is expected to be at its highest level this season, which will require a large amount of electricity to meet the growing demand.
Last year, the maximum power demand during the kharif season in the South Telangana Power Transmission Corporation was 9,862 megawatts. This year, the demand has already reached 9,910 megawatts. By the end of the season, the demand is expected to exceed 10,000 megawatts.
Given the possibility of a further increase in demand, the chairman has instructed officials to closely monitor power loads on feeders and transformers. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a steady power supply to farmers without any disruptions.
