Hyderabad: The Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA), AV Ranganath, has clarified that HYDRA is not involved in any surveys or evacuations along the Musi River. These activities are part of ongoing development projects, but HYDRA is not participating in them.
Ranganath explained that recent surveys conducted along both sides of the Musi River have nothing to do with HYDRA. He also assured the public that there are no plans to relocate residents or demolish houses in the area. The efforts to beautify the Musi River are being managed by the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, not HYDRA.
This statement comes after local residents expressed concerns about possible demolitions and forced relocations related to the riverfront project. Ranganath emphasized that HYDRA is not marking houses for demolition and is not involved in clearing any structures along the Musi River.
The main goal of the Musi Riverfront Project is to beautify and develop the riverbanks. Officials have reassured the public that no homes or residents will be affected by demolitions or relocations as part of this project.
Ranganath also reminded the public that not all demolitions in the city are carried out by HYDRA. He explained that HYDRA’s role is to protect natural resources, safeguard lakes, ponds, and drainage systems, and prevent flooding during rains.
