Hyderabad – Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has invited citizens from all backgrounds to join the Tiranga Yatra on Friday, May 17, at 5 PM. The rally will begin at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue near Tank Bund and end at the Swami Vivekananda statue.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Kishan Reddy said the event will bring together a wide range of people, including defence officials, bureaucrats, artists, and social leaders. He emphasized that the Yatra will be filled with patriotic spirit and unity, cutting across political lines.
Reddy, who will lead the march, also addressed a recent tragedy. On April 22, terrorists linked to Pakistan attacked and killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Among the victims were 25 Indians and one Nepali national.
He described the attack as a brutal crime against humanity. It was especially horrific, he said, because a father was killed in front of his children and a husband in front of his wife—a first of its kind globally. India and the international community strongly condemned the violence.
Soon after the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had just returned from a foreign trip, took immediate action. Home Minister Amit Shah visited the site to review the situation. The Prime Minister warned that India would not tolerate such assaults on humanity, secularism, and national unity.
In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6. In this mission, the Indian Army successfully destroyed nine terrorist camps inside Pakistan. These strikes were carried out with precision, avoiding harm to civilians.
The operation also targeted terrorists who had previously hijacked an Indian aircraft from Nepal and taken it to Afghanistan. According to Reddy, around 100 terrorists were eliminated, along with Pakistani soldiers who were helping them.
He highlighted that Operation Sindoor was unique because it only hit terrorist bases and residences, not civilian areas. The operation sent a strong message: India will respond firmly to terrorism. The world, he noted, has recognized India’s strategic expertise and restraint.
To show support for India’s armed forces, Tiranga Yatras are now being held across the country. These events aim to uplift the morale of soldiers and promote national unity beyond politics.
Reddy urged everyone—especially students, youth groups, and women's organizations—to take part in the Hyderabad rally. “Let’s stand together for our soldiers and our country,” he said.
