KT Rama Rao, the Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, announced a new regulation to promote net water neutrality in high-rise residential and commercial buildings. This regulation will require mandatory recycling and reuse of wastewater and dual piping systems. The minister made this announcement while participating in World Environment Day celebrations at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad. He also requested cooperation from ASCI.

The government has invited tenders for agencies to establish Scientific Processing Units in 130 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) on a DBOT basis grouped into nine clusters with a capacity of 2974 TPD. The compost generated and the bailed dry Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) material will be sold to tied-up industries by the agencies. This will reduce the burden on ULB towards the cost involved in processing wet and dry waste.
