KT Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, announced that the government will make it mandatory for buildings (high-rise residential and commercial) to recycle and reuse wastewater and install dual piping systems. This is to promote net water neutrality. The minister made this announcement during the World Environment Day celebrations at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), where he sought cooperation from the institution.

The government has invited tenders for agencies to establish Scientific Processing Units in 130 ULBs on a DBOT basis grouped into 9 clusters. This will have a capacity of 2974 TPD, and the compost generated and the bailed dry RDF material shall be sold to tied-up industries to reduce the burden on ULB towards the cost involved in the processing of wet and dry waste.
