KTR Criticizes Congress for Reducing Rythu Bandhu Benefit

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticized the government for reducing the promised benefit under the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme. Instead of delivering the Rs 15,000 per acre promised in the election manifesto, the government has provided only Rs 12,000. KTR called this reduction a “blatant betrayal” of farmers in Telangana.

Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KTR described the move as an election stunt and warned that the government might even remove the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme entirely in the future. “This is nothing short of daylight robbery. The Congress promised Rs 15,000 during the elections, but now farmers are being shortchanged. This is an unforgivable betrayal, and Telangana’s farmers will not tolerate it,” he said.

KTR announced statewide protests to demand justice for farmers. He revealed that demonstrations would be held on Monday in district, mandal, and constituency headquarters across Telangana. “We will continue to fight until the Congress delivers on its promise. Farmers must question Congress leaders wherever they go,” he urged.

The BRS leader also criticized the Congress for its lack of clarity on providing support to horticulture and other crop farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He accused the Congress of making empty promises and claimed that the party has a history of betraying the public.

KTR specifically called out Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders, questioning their silence on the issue. “Rahul Gandhi once claimed that Congress would guarantee support to farmers. Where is he now? Why is he not visiting Telangana to explain this betrayal?” he asked. KTR urged farmers to unite against what he called the Congress’ “treachery” and make their voices heard.
