Hyderabad: On Sunday, the city witnessed a dramatic police raid. The police raided a villa in Janwada, owned by Raj Pakala, around midnight on Saturday. Inside the villa, they found 21 men and 14 women attending what appeared to be a rave party.

The police reported that the party organisers served alcohol without obtaining permission from the Excise department. They also discovered gaming materials in the villa. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Srinivas Rao, from Rajendranagar, said the police suspected drug use at the party. They tested the male attendees for drugs using drug detection kits.

Among those tested, Vijay Madduri, the CEO of a software company owned by Raj Pakala, tested positive for cocaine. The police later used sniffer dogs to search the villa thoroughly, but no additional drugs or illegal substances were found.

Raj Pakala, the villa owner, is the brother-in-law of K T Rama Rao, the working president of the BRS party. Following the raid, Vijay Madduri was sent to a hospital for further blood tests. He told the police that Raj Pakala had given him the cocaine. He also revealed that they occasionally gathered on weekends to consume drugs and play games using poker coins.

A case was filed under the NDPS Act and the Telangana Gaming Act at the Mokila Police Station against Raj Pakala and Vijay Madduri. Additionally, the Excise Task Force charged Raj Pakala under the Excise Act for possessing and serving alcohol without an excise license. However, Raj Pakala has been missing since the raid.

On Sunday, police and Excise officials went to another property, Orion Villas in Raidurgam, looking for Raj Pakala. However, they found the villa locked, and Raj was not present. The officials considered breaking the lock, but several BRS leaders, including Maganti Gopinath, K Sanjay, and Vivek Goud, arrived with party workers and protested.

The police took the protesting BRS leaders into custody. The leaders demanded that the police show them the search notices. It was later revealed that Raj Pakala had not been staying at the Orion Villas for the past 10 days.
