Hanumakonda: On Sunday, Warangal West MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy honored BR Bhagavan Das as a leader who truly embodied the slogans “The Earth belongs to the poor” and “The worker is the king.” The event marked Das’s 95th birth anniversary at Ashoka Junction, with Reddy and MLC Baswaraj Saraiah as chief guests.
They were joined by senior communist leaders, corporators, and family members to lay a garland at Das’s statue, paying homage to his legacy. Reddy praised Das’s role as a prominent communist leader and trade union activist, highlighting his dedication to supporting the poor.
Reddy described Das as a leader deeply aware of people’s issues, driven by democratic ideals throughout his activism. Das’s efforts in advocating for LIC and banking sector workers set a standard for others, and his work in fighting for minimum wages, safety measures, and service rights significantly improved workers’ lives.
Reddy stressed the importance of clarity in addressing people’s issues, noting Das’s persistent efforts to explain communism’s true meaning to the public. He said Das’s life serves as a guide for addressing social issues, and continuing his work for the poor is the best way to honor him.
