A student from Hyderabad, Ridhwan Daram, achieved a top position in the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) exams for 2024-25. Ridhwan, studying in the sixth grade at The Future Kid’s School, earned third place in the International Computer Science Olympiad, receiving a bronze medal and a merit certificate.
This year’s SOF Olympiad attracted millions of participants from 70 countries, including over 255,500 students from Hyderabad. Schools like Chirec International School, Unicent International School, and Samashti International School were among the competitors.
SOF organized a ceremony at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi to honor the winners and teachers for the academic year 2024-25. The event was attended by 750 students and teachers, with Justice JK Maheshwari from the Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest.
During the ceremony, top three rank holders from classes one to twelve across eight Olympiad exams were acknowledged. The 74 international rank-1 winners received Rs 50,000, an international gold medal, and a merit certificate. Those in second place received Rs 25,000 with an international silver medal and a merit certificate. Third place winners, like Ridhwan, got Rs 10,000, a bronze medal, and a merit certificate.
Justice JK Maheshwari addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of both knowledge and values in education. He stressed the need to empower the youth with these tools to become nation builders, stating that those who carry the light of education will not remain in darkness.
