Hyderabad is getting ready for the monsoon season. VB Kamalasan Reddy, head of the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC), urged all departments to work together. He asked them to appoint skilled officers to join TGICCC and stressed the need to create a joint action team. He also encouraged using TGICCC services efficiently during the rainy season.
A meeting took place at the TGICCC war room. Key officials from the Hyderabad Collectorate, GHMC, Fire Services, HYDRA, TGSPDCL, Medical & Health Department, IMD, SDRF, HMWS&SB, and the police commissionerates of Cyberabad and Rachakonda attended. The Director General & Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, led the gathering.
The meeting aimed to boost readiness for the monsoon, focusing on managing floods and traffic at 141 water-logging hotspots within GHMC areas. They discussed plans for restoring power during heavy rains, directing floodwaters to specific channels, controlling seasonal diseases, addressing unsafe structures, and deploying Aapda Mitra volunteers and NGOs for emergencies. They also talked about using the SACHET Mobile Application and other government tools for public safety.
City Police Commissioner CV Anand called on all departments to prepare for challenges and position teams ahead of time at key water-logging spots. He emphasized the importance of using TGICCC’s advanced systems for real-time coordination during emergencies.
Y Nagi Reddy from the Fire Services stressed the need for a standard operating procedure (SOP) at the command center. This SOP should outline the roles of different departments, including Medical & Health, in handling fire incidents during the monsoon.
Officers like AV Ranganath from HYDRA, Mukunda Rao from the Hyderabad Collectorate, N Narsimlu, Director of Operations at TGSPDCL, Sahadev Ratnakar from GHMC, Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, Joint CP of Cyberabad, and others participated. The meeting concluded with all departments pledging to work together for citizens’ safety and well-being during the monsoon.
