In Karimnagar, major political parties are preparing for the upcoming MLC elections. The current MLC of Karimnagar graduate constituency, T Jeevan Reddy, will see his term end on March 29, 2025. As a result, political activities are ramping up in anticipation of the elections.

The enrollment process for graduates in the constituency, which includes Nizamabad, Adilabad, Medak, and Karimnagar districts, will begin in September. This has prompted hopeful candidates from various parties to start their campaigns to secure a ticket.

In the 2019 MLC elections, BRS did not field a candidate for the graduates and teachers constituency. Instead, they supported Transport Department Officer Chandasekar Goud from the outside. Former Mayor of Karimnagar Sardar Ravinder Singh and TRSMA State President Yadagiri Shekhar Rao attempted to secure a ticket but were unsuccessful. Ultimately, Jeevan Reddy from the Congress party won the election.

Currently, Boinapally Vinodkumar, who previously contested the Lok Sabha elections from BRS and lost, is gaining attention. Other names being considered include Yadagari Shekhar Rao, Sardar Ravinder Singh, and Perala Devender Rao. It is reported that Ravinder Singh recently met with BRS chief KCR to discuss his candidacy.

R Satyanarayana, who switched from BRS to Congress, is also among the contenders. Given his background as a BC candidate, Congress is considering fielding him. Jeevan Reddy may also seek another opportunity to run, having reportedly received assurances from the party leadership following his protest against Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar’s entry into Congress.

For Congress, the names of R Satyanarayana and Jeevan Reddy are currently prominent, with more names expected to emerge closer to the election. In the previous election, BJP’s P Sugunakarrao was defeated, but he is making efforts to contest again. Rani Rudrama, who ran as a party candidate from Sircilla in the Legislative Assembly elections and lost, is also being considered, potentially with the backing of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay.

Alongside the graduate MLC elections, the Karimnagar teachers MLC election will also take place. Currently, PRTU leader Raghotham Reddy serves as the teachers MLC, but there is a possibility of a new candidate being chosen. The Congress party is also paying attention to this constituency, with Krishna Rao, known for his role in advocating for the abolition of CPS as a teacher MLC, likely to enter the race.

Furthermore, many parties are considering Sabbani Venkat from Sirisapalli, Huzurabad mandal, the vice president of a prominent IT company known for his social service work, as a potential candidate.
