Hyderabad is buzzing with activity as many Congress leaders vie for the Jubilee Hills by-election ticket. The AICC is carefully considering the best candidate to strengthen their position in the city. Despite AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan advising against speculating on candidates, several hopefuls are actively seeking the nomination.
Among those interested are Mohammad Azharuddin, Bonthu Rammohan, Md Faheemuddin Qureshi, Jetti Kusum Kumar, V Naveen Yadav, and C Rohin Reddy. Azharuddin has expressed his desire to run again, even after losing in the 2023 elections. He recently attended a PAC meeting, signaling his intentions for the Jubilee Hills seat.
Bonthu Rammohan is back in the spotlight after a quiet period, following his unsuccessful bid for the Secunderabad MP ticket. He believes he has strong support in the area, aided by his wife Sridevi, a corporator with a solid backing. Kusum Kumar, from the Kamma community, has previously sought an MLC position. He is supported by former MLC T Jagga Reddy, who argues for Kamma representation.
Md Faheemuddin is part of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s close group and is pushing for a ticket, highlighting the significant minority votes. Rohin Reddy, who lost in Amberpet in 2023, is emphasizing his role as a local leader to secure his candidacy.
PCC President B Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the candidate will be chosen after the AICC conducts a thorough survey to identify the strongest contender. With numerous candidates eager for the nomination, the Pradesh Congress Committee faces a challenging decision.
