Hyderabad: The Ministry of Power has introduced a new initiative called the Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme. With a budget of Rs 1,000 crore, this program aims to boost the MSME sector and encourage sustainable industrial practices.
The scheme, launched nationwide from Panipat, is managed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). It focuses on speeding up the use of advanced energy-saving technologies in MSMEs, which are crucial for employment and innovation.
Telangana is among the five states chosen for the ADEETIE scheme to enhance energy efficiency in the pharma industry. Along with Baddi, Madgaon, Ahmedabad, and Bidar, Medak in Telangana has been selected for this initiative.
BEE has called on all state governments to actively participate in implementing ADEETIE. States are asked to use their State Designated Agencies (SDAs) to inform stakeholders, identify suitable clusters, and support MSMEs in transitioning to new technologies.
The Ministry of Power praised states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu for their proactive roles. They encouraged other states to help make ADEETIE a pivotal moment in India’s clean industrial development.
Akash Tripathi, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Director General of BEE, highlighted the scheme’s importance for MSMEs. He urged states to seize this opportunity to benefit their industries.
From the Rs 1,000-crore budget, Rs 875 crore is set aside as interest subvention for easier access to finance, while Rs 50 crore is for implementation and capacity-building. The initiative is expected to attract over Rs 9,000 crore in total investments, including contributions from MSMEs.
The scheme offers extensive support, including Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGEA), Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), financial aid, and Monitoring & Verification (M&V). This ensures measurable energy savings, cost reductions, and improved productivity.
Milind Deore, Secretary of BEE, stressed the importance of state-level involvement. He noted that SDAs play a key role in outreach and supporting the scheme, helping MSMEs become competitive and environmentally aware.
ADEETIE covers 60 industrial clusters and 14 energy-intensive sectors, such as textiles, foundries, and food processing. The approach is phased and cluster-specific to ensure effective outcomes.
The government views this scheme as a vital tool for recovering from the pandemic, promoting sustainability, creating jobs, and achieving India’s climate and net-zero objectives.
