The health department in Telangana is facing a problem with a lack of staff for new medical and veterinary colleges. This means that there aren’t enough professors to teach the students, which could lead to negative reports from the Medical Council. The government has set up several new medical colleges in different districts, with plans to start even more this year. However, the health department is struggling to find enough superintendents, principals, and other staff members to work at these colleges.

One issue is that the retirement age for superintendents and the additional director post of medical education is 61 years, while the retirement age for teaching staff has been increased to 65. The Medical Council noticed this problem and amended the rule to allow a retirement age of up to 70 years for these positions, as long as the person has at least 10 years of experience as a professor or assistant professor.

The PV Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University, which was just started in Siddipet, also lacks staff. Although there is infrastructure available, there aren’t any professors to teach. The department is working on amending a bill to increase the retirement age and will send it to the governor for approval.

Overall, the health department is facing a challenging situation with a shortage of staff for new medical and veterinary colleges. They are working on finding solutions to ensure that these colleges can operate effectively and provide quality education to students.
