Republicans are accusing President Joe Biden’s family of making more than $10 million through questionable business deals while he was vice president. The Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee claims that the family received $1 million from a deal with a Romanian tycoon in 2014-2015. The deal was allegedly done by Rob Walker, a business partner of Biden’s son Hunter. The Republicans say that after the Romanian funds came in, Walker’s company paid more than $1 million into accounts controlled by Hunter Biden, Hallie Biden, and James Gilliar, another business partner of Hunter.

The Republicans also allege that Hunter Biden and his associates courted business in countries that correlated directly with Joe Biden’s work as vice president. Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said that this is not normal or ethical. The Republicans did not provide evidence that Joe Biden knew of the business deals and money transfers. However, they believe he must have been aware of all the companies set up by Hunter and his associates to conduct the business.

Biden has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing with regard to his son’s deals and defended Hunter’s business practices. He stated that he trusts his son and has faith in him.
