Donald Trump, a former US president and the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, will appear on CNN in a town hall format. He will answer questions from an audience made up of Republicans and undeclared voters from New Hampshire who plan to vote in the state’s 2024 Republican presidential primary, which is the first in the nation. This will be Trump’s first appearance on CNN since his 2016 presidential campaign. CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins will moderate the town hall, which is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm (0000 GMT).

CNN has been criticized for providing Trump with a prime-time slot, with some saying that it “normalizes” his behavior, which allegedly tried to “end the democracy he’s attempting to once again run.” However, CNN has defended its decision by saying that it plans to provide the same town hall format to other presidential candidates.

Trump’s appearance on CNN comes after he was found liable of sexually abusing and defaming American magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll. A New York jury ordered him to pay $5 million in damages to Carroll. Trump dismissed the accusations as a “hoax,” but the jury found that Carroll had been sexually abused by him.

Trump is also facing several legal challenges related to hush-money payments made to a porn star just before the 2016 vote, his alleged mishandling of classified documents taken from the White House, and his involvement in the January 6 storming of the Capitol.

Trump has been promoting his appearance on CNN while taking digs at the network at the same time. His live appearance on CNN comes amid a rift between him and Fox News, which has long championed him. Fox News recently settled a lawsuit with Dominion, a voting technology company that alleged the network knowingly aired false claims about its machines.
