Hyderabad: Beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme are thrilled with the support from the state government, finally realizing their long-held dream of owning a home. On Sunday, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy spoke to them via video call from his office.
One beneficiary expressed disbelief at receiving an Indiramma house after years in temporary shelters. After the Congress’s rise to power, they received Rs 4 lakh to build their home. They plan to finish construction soon and hope CM Revanth Reddy can attend their housewarming, offering a meal with jowar rotis and rice provided by the government.
Uma from Khammam district shared her happiness, having received Rs 2 lakh for the basement and walls. She feels grateful to Revanth Reddy for making her dream home a reality.
Lakshmi from Nagireddypalli village in Kodangal expressed gratitude for finally having a house after many struggles. She mentioned receiving Rs 2 lakh for the slab and invited the minister and CM to her housewarming, promising to cover travel costs and prepare a meal with government-provided rice.
Minister Reddy accepted the invitations and shared that the Indiramma Housing project is moving forward with great enthusiasm. He announced that Rs 14.44 crore was released starting May 19. The scheme includes 47,335 sanctioned houses, with 7,824 at the basement stage, 895 with completed walls, and 64 up to the slab level.
Despite financial challenges from the previous administration, the government is committed to supporting the poor. Funds are released to beneficiaries every Monday, with Rs 56.82 crore allocated for houses at the basement stage, Rs 9.94 crore for those with completed slabs, and Rs 68.08 crore overall for the project.
