Hyderabad: On Friday, Telangana’s Forest Environment Minister, Konda Surekha, stated that the government aims to transform the state into an eco-tourism hub. She emphasized that these projects should honor local culture, tribal traditions, and spiritual heritage.
Minister Surekha led a meeting with the Eco-Tourism Project Screening Committee at the Secretariat. She instructed officials to expedite ongoing projects, start Phase II where Phase I is finished, and ensure projects by TGFDC and TGTDC are organized through agreements for better coordination.
Surekha highlighted that eco-tourism projects near temples should incorporate spiritual themes. She revealed a special plan for Niladri Hills, comparing it to Bhimbetka Hills in Madhya Pradesh, and directed that funds come from the Tourism and Endowments Departments to promote it as a unique site.
The meeting reviewed projects at several locations, including Ananthagiri Hills (Vikarabad), Kanakagiri (Khammam), Mucherla Eco Park (Nalgonda), Manjeera Wildlife Sanctuary (Sangareddy), as well as Nandipet, Mannanur, Domalapenta, Amaragiri, Pakhal Lake, Kinnerasani, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Vanasthali.
Concluding the meeting, Surekha encouraged all departments to collaborate in creating top-notch eco-tourism experiences. She expressed confidence that Telangana will soon be recognized nationally and internationally in this field.
