Bhongir: Legislative Council member Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, also known as Teenmaar Mallanna, has highlighted the government’s intention to reform the revenue system. He described this initiative as a significant and positive step towards creating a better revenue policy that would benefit the people.
On Saturday, a discussion was held at the district collector’s office in Bhongir. The event focused on the draft of the Telangana Rights Record Bill 2024 and included participants such as farmers, advocates, representatives of various welfare organizations, volunteers, and retired revenue employees.
During the meeting, MLC Naveen emphasized that the government’s main goal is to clean up the revenue system. He assured participants that their suggestions would be passed on to the government.
The MLC also acknowledged several issues related to Dharani, an online land records management system. He admitted that the revenue system had become fragmented due to Dharani and stressed the importance of rectifying these issues to ensure fairness for everyone.
District Collector Hanumanth K Jendage added that land has an emotional significance in India. He emphasized that the new revenue act aims to prevent farmers from facing land-related problems. He assured that all suggestions and advice would be forwarded to the government for consideration.
Retired MRO (Mandal Revenue Officer) Uday Kumar proposed that an appeal system should exist, allowing issues to be resolved locally, from the Tahsildar to the District Collector, without the need to escalate matters to the CCLA office in Hyderabad.
Uday Kumar also pointed out that since the introduction of Dharani, gram sabhas (village meetings) have not been held regularly, leading to various irregularities. He noted that the rules within Dharani had not been effectively implemented and suggested that new rules should be created in the upcoming act to address these shortcomings.
