    Asian boxing champion Kaur Singh died at the age of 74 in a hospital in Haryana’s Kurukshetra on Thursday. He had been undergoing treatment for multiple health problems. Singh was a renowned boxer who won six gold medals in international competitions, including the 1982 Asian Games. One of his most memorable matches was an exhibition match with boxing legend Muhammad Ali in Delhi in 1980. Singh won the heavyweight boxing gold medal at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi. Punjab government announced plans to publish life stories of four great players in the school curriculum, including Singh. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 1982, Padma Shri in 1983, and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 1988. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema expressed his condolences and directed officials to make arrangements to bring Singh’s body to his native village.
