Hyderabad / New Delhi – The Union Health Ministry is actively checking if medical services across India, especially in border areas, are ready to handle emergencies around the clock. This move follows a recent push from the Union Home Ministry for states to stay on high alert and activate emergency plans.

Health Minister JP Nadda led a top-level meeting with senior officials to review the country’s emergency health preparedness. The focus was on making sure hospitals and healthcare systems can respond quickly and effectively if a crisis strikes.

During the meeting, the Union Health Secretary shared updates on recent discussions with state governments, Union Territories, and central hospitals. These talks aim to build strong coordination between national and local health teams, making sure everyone works together efficiently in an emergency.

Minister Nadda stressed the need for all emergency medical services to be fully equipped and ready at any moment. He also highlighted the importance of close cooperation with state and district-level authorities, especially in border states, so people can get immediate medical help when needed.

To strengthen the response, the Health Ministry will set up a 24/7 control and command center. This center will monitor all emergency efforts and offer support to states during critical situations.

Officials shared a detailed report on current emergency health resources. This included the status of ambulance deployment, the availability of medicines, equipment, blood supplies, and other essential items. They also reviewed the readiness of hospitals, including the number of available ICU and HDU beds.

In addition to existing infrastructure, the government has rolled out advanced mobile trauma care units and BHISHM cubes—special portable treatment modules designed for emergency medical care in the field.

The government continues to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that India’s health system is ready to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency.
