Navratri Celebrations at Edapally Temple Disrupted by Jal Digbandham Floods
Text Size: 100%

The famous Edapally temple in Medak has been surrounded by floodwaters due to the swelling of the Manjeera River. This has made it difficult for devotees to visit the temple during the ongoing Navratri celebrations. The heavy flow of water near the temple has made it hard to reach the main sanctum.

Because of the flooding, the temple authorities have closed the inner sanctum, also known as the garbhagudi. Instead, they are performing the pujas (rituals) at the Rajagopuram, which is the temple tower. Despite these challenges, the rituals are continuing with dedication. The temple’s deity, Gayatri Devi, has been dressed in special attire so devotees can still offer their prayers.

There are growing concerns that the rising water levels may cause further disruptions to the Navratri festivities, known as Sharannavarathri Utsavalu.
