The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged an eighth person in a case involving the radicalization of young people towards the Maoist ideology and support for the banned CPI (Maoist) organization. The accused, Ramakkagiri Chandra, has been charged with various offenses and was found in possession of a pistol and ammunition provided by the CPI (Maoist).
Chandra, a State Committee member of Pragathisheela Karmika Samakhya (PKS), a group linked to the banned organization, was involved in a conspiracy with underground leaders of the CPI (Maoist). He also helped construct a memorial for a slain Maoist in Andhra Pradesh.
The NIA had previously filed a chargesheet in May 2021 in the same case, known as the Munchingput conspiracy case, naming seven accused. Investigations are ongoing as the agency continues its efforts to dismantle the banned outfit.
