Asifabad: The district is rich in forest resources, and everyone must help protect them, said Collector Venkatesh Dhotre during a Forest Protection Committee meeting at the Collectorate on Wednesday.
The Collector noted that forests cover 56% of the district’s land. Authorities need to work together to prevent forest land from being taken over.
He highlighted the danger of poachers using electric wires in forests, which not only harms wildlife but also endangers farmers and laborers.
Electricity officials should ensure that wires do not run along roads in forest areas. There is a need to implement solar power solutions by drilling borewells on unused and tribal-cultivated lands under the Indira Saura Giri Jal Shakti scheme.
Efforts are underway to build roads and culverts connecting remote villages to mandal centers. Development initiatives include providing drinking water, electricity, and housing in these areas. Officials will conduct a joint survey to resolve forest and revenue boundary issues, aiming to clearly define boundaries and prevent land encroachment.
The meeting was attended by Electricity Officer Sesha Rao, Singareni Sanstha Goleti General Manager Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, Panchayat Raj EE Prabhakar, Forest Range Officers, revenue officials, and other relevant personnel.
