Officials to observe Handloom Week on National Handloom Day

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, the district officials are planning to celebrate the Handloom week as instructed by the Director of Handloom and Textile Department. All handloom and woollen silk weavers societies are informed to participate in the National Handloom Day on 12.08.2023 at 10 am in the IDOC.

During this event, the Local MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy and the district Collector Valluri Kranti will start the handloom week by waving the flag to highlight the importance of handloom clothes and textiles. They will also discuss the benefits of wearing handloom clothes, such as protecting the skin and increasing modesty.

Additionally, on this National Day of Handlooms, the artisans and master weavers will be felicitated for their contributions. To further promote the use of handloom clothes, an essay competition will be conducted for college students to explain the importance of handlooms. The winners will receive their prizes on the same day at Gadwal IDOC.

Therefore, all handloom weavers in Gadwal district are requested to attend the meeting on the 12th of this month while wearing handloom clothes.
