On Raksha Bandhan, Damodar urges deworming awareness

Hyderabad: On Raksha Bandhan, Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narsimha urged the people of Telangana to raise awareness about a statewide deworming campaign set for August 11.

He encouraged siblings celebrating Raksha Bandhan to discuss this important health initiative. The Minister emphasized that Raksha Bandhan represents the love and support between brothers and sisters.

He stated that the State government acts as a protective elder brother through various welfare programs to empower women in Telangana. He pointed out significant initiatives under the India Mahila Shakti Mission, such as providing rental buses to women’s groups, establishing Indira canteens, petrol units, and offering interest-free loans exceeding 21,000 crore.

Additionally, he mentioned free bus services for women, subsidized LPG cylinders, new ration cards, and housing schemes in women’s names. He urged families to inform each other about the importance of deworming children aged 1 to 19.

Albendazole tablets will be available at anganwadi centers, schools, and colleges,” he explained. This program aims to remove intestinal worms, boost immunity, and decrease anaemia in children.

He appealed to parents and communities to ensure every eligible child receives the deworming tablet, contributing to a healthier Telangana.
