Nagarjunasagar: The Nagarjuna Sagar’s low-level flood canal experienced a breach in Anumula (Halia) mandal in the Sagar constituency on Tuesday. This breach has resulted in the wastage of water. Authorities have stopped releasing water into the canal to prevent further loss.

District Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had released water into this canal on August 2. However, the authorities are now facing criticism for poor canal management.

Farmers are upset because the canal breached just three days after the water was released. They blame the lack of repairs and poor organisation for the problem.

This canal is supposed to fill 200 ponds and provide drinking water to around 250 villages. The canal has 36 distributaries. Farmers also complain that the canal has become muddy because boulders and bushes have not been removed.
