Hyderabad: Osmania University teamed up with the DAAD Information Centre in Chennai and its Office of International Affairs to host an event called “Research in Germany Day – PhD in Focus.” This program aimed to inform postgraduate students and researchers about PhD opportunities and funding options in Germany.
Prof. B. Vijaya, Director of the Office of International Affairs, welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of international collaboration in education. She said that global experiences not only improve academic quality but also help students develop intercultural skills.
Amita Desai, Honorary Consul of Germany in Hyderabad, delivered a keynote speech. She discussed the growing academic partnerships between India and Germany and encouraged students to take advantage of DAAD’s strong support system for research and higher education.
Prof. C. Kaseem spoke about the cultural and historical ties between India and Germany. He urged students to learn new languages like German and French to prepare for the global stage.
Kavitha Somasundaram, Regional Officer at DAAD Chennai, detailed scholarships, research grants, and support available for Indian PhD students in Germany.
Adding a scientific perspective, Dr. Ramakrishna Kancha, Director of the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology at Osmania University, shared his research experiences in Germany. He emphasized the benefits of international collaboration for scientific advancement.
Karishma Kumari, a PhD scholar at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, provided a live testimonial. She shared her experiences of studying in Germany, adapting to a global research environment, and enjoying the intellectual growth supported by Germany’s research facilities.
