Gadwal, July 26, 2025: Heavy rains have increased water levels at the Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP) Dam. At 6:00 PM, the reservoir level reached 317.680 meters (1,042.257 feet).
The dam can hold up to 7.991 TMC of water, with the current live storage at 4.284 TMC. The Full Reservoir Level (FRL) is 318.516 meters, with a capacity of 9.657 TMC.
The inflow is 75,000 cusecs, requiring careful management. To control levels, nine spillway gates are open, releasing 35,820 cusecs.
The Power House is releasing 34,286 cusecs, aiding electricity production and water control.
Additional water usage includes:
- Evaporation: 44 cusecs
- Nettampadu Lift Irrigation Scheme: 750 cusecs
- Koilsagar Lift Scheme: 315 cusecs
- Left Main Canal (LMC): 550 cusecs
- Right Main Canal (RMC): 480 cusecs
- RDS Link Canal: 150 cusecs
- Parallel Canal: 200 cusecs
- Bhima Lift-II: 750 cusecs
Bhima Lift-I is not currently in use.
Total outflow, including all releases, is 72,445 cusecs.
The dam is close to its Full Reservoir Level, and authorities are monitoring it closely. Officials ensure safety measures are active, and water is available for downstream irrigation. Farmers and residents relying on LMC, RMC, and lift irrigation schemes will benefit from these releases. Updates will follow based on weather and water conditions.
