Hyderabad: Professor Aldas Janaiah, the Vice Chancellor of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU), has encouraged students, faculty, and staff to work together to improve the university’s national ranking.
Speaking at a gathering held in the university auditorium in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Professor Janaiah revealed that PJTAU is currently ranked 37th. He set an ambitious target for the university to break into the top ten within the next three years.
To achieve this, several key issues were discussed at the meeting. These included filling vacant university officer positions by January as per government policies, increasing special quota seats, and reducing the fees for agricultural courses by 50 percent.
Additionally, concerns were raised about private institutions offering agricultural courses without proper technical permissions and recognition from statutory authorities. The Vice Chancellor assured that the university would adopt a democratic and transparent decision-making process moving forward.
Plans are also being made to celebrate the university’s Diamond Jubilee soon, which will recognize the institution’s long-standing contributions to agricultural education.
During the meeting, important figures such as Professor B Vidya Sagar, President of the Telangana Agricultural Scientists Association (TASA), non-teaching staff leaders like Srinivas Yadav and Amrutha Reddy, as well as student representatives Pooja and Balakoti, and alumni representative Kavi Raj, highlighted various issues and the achievements of the university.
