Hyderabad: Police in Hyderabad arrested a 28-year-old man for selling illegal electronic cigarettes. The operation was conducted by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, and Saifabad Police. They confiscated 670 e-cigarettes valued at Rs 21 lakh.
The raid took place in Prinstancode Apartments at Adarsh Nagar. During this operation, Akash Sinde was caught with e-cigarettes under brands like Elfbar, Elux, Raya D1, Nasty, and Shisha.
Akash, who hails from Mangalhat, worked as a caretaker for Vishesh Agarwal at the apartments, located near Grand Bazar. He received a monthly salary for this role.
DCP YVS Sudheendra stated that Akash was seeking quick, illegal profits. He purchased banned e-cigarettes at cheap rates from Delhi through agents. Akash then brought them to Hyderabad, stored them in the apartment, and secretly sold them, mainly to college students and young people.
These electronic cigarettes contain nicotine and harmful chemicals, making them addictive and dangerous to health. Their easy access and attractive nature are causing more young people to use them.
The police have taken Akash and the seized items to the Saifabad Police for further proceedings.
