Hyderabad: Police from the Hyderabad Task Force in the West Zone arrested seven individuals linked to online betting platforms like SKYEXCH, RADHE EXCHANGE, and others. They seized 55 mobile phones, three laptops, 60 debit cards, and cash during the operation.
The arrested include Girish Agarwal (39), a bookie from Ghansi Bazar Charminar, and agents S Maninder Pal Singh (36), Pawan Kumar Sharma (35), Kishan Sharma (24), Mohith Agarwal (27), and Rahul Agarwal (32). A punter named Suresh Soni (33) from Puranpul was also caught. Police found betting points on several platforms, totaling 23,51,505 points, equivalent to 23,51,505 rupees.
These individuals used online betting websites by setting up accounts and distributing login details through agents to punters.
Mohd Iqbal Siddiqui, Additional DCP of the Task Force, South West Zone, stated they acted on a tip-off and set a trap in Murali Nagar, Puranapul, Bahadurpura. They caught Suresh betting on Placebet999. He admitted buying points from Girish Agarwal. This led to further arrests of Girish and his agents, along with the seizure of electronic devices and cards.
During questioning, Girish explained how he learned about popular betting sites like SKYEXCH and others. He hired agents and opened bank accounts in their names, paying them Rs 3,000 each. He controlled these accounts for betting activities, according to Iqbal Siddiqui.
